Restart and Reinvigorate your Quality Assurance Program Workshop

Program Description Join us in person for a hands-on workshop that will give you the skills and base materials to elevate your current Quality Assurance Program or start a successful new program. This three-hour training will start with a review of the current Regulatory Quality Assurance Committee Requirements as well as the key factors to consider when building your program. Participants will then break out into small groups to collaborate to create custom QA components to implement at their own communities. Participants will leave the workshop with a variety of practical methods to implement an active and effective QA Program. This workshop is beneficial for Administrators, Executive Directors, Regional Directors of Operations, Case Managers, Nurse Managers, or Quality Assurance / Risk Management Staff, and carries 3 CEU credits. It is open to ESAAL Members & non-members.
Meet the Instructors:
Raeanne McLaughlin, Healthcare Consultant, Hinman Straub, P.C.
Raeanne McLaughlin, Healthcare Consultant, joined the Hinman Straub Health Team in 2022. Ms. McLaughlin brings a wealth of operational experience to serve our clients, including over 14 years as a New York State Assisted Living Administrator during her 29 years in Senior Care. Her success in leading communities to meet regulatory standards, exceed consumer expectations, build successful staff and achieve and maintain financial stability make her a source of valuable insights and guidance for clients.
Ms. McLaughlin is an accomplished lecturer in the areas of Behavioral Health, Operational Best Practice, Quality Assurance and Creating a Positive Workforce Culture. In addition to her Assisted Living experience, she has professional experience in Nursing Home and Adult Day Care operations as well as Geriatric Psychiatry, Behavioral and Pharmaceutical Research and Neuropsychological Evaluation and Assessment, giving her a diverse background to understand the challenges facing our clients and craft practical solutions that address their needs.
Lori Sievers, Attorney, Hinman Straub, P.C.
Lori Sievers is a member of the Firm’s Health Law department. Her practice focuses on representing Long Term Care providers. She represents assisted living residence, social day care and home care operators in all licensing and regulatory compliance matters, acquisitions and sales, and litigation matters. She has served on a variety of work groups and task forces, including the Assisted Living Task Force, ACF Licensure Streamlining Workgroup and Regulatory Rewrite Workgroup, where she has played a key role in shaping licensure and operational policy. Her unique understanding of operational issues, partnered with her extensive experience in assisted living law and regulations allows her to efficiently problem-solve and partner with clients to strategically plan and meet their licensure goals, compliance strategies and ownership transitions.
She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Capital District Women’s Bar Association, where she is active with the CARE and Classroom Committee.
Lori will be at the Albany, Long Island & Westchester workshops.

Description
This series will focus on the management and documentation of common challenging resident scenarios. The series will be conducted in a highly interactive workshop format using real examples, Case Management notes, Incident Reports, and other required documentation.
Sample topics that will be covered:
Recurrent Falls Aggressive Behavioral Challenges Wandering and Elopement Poor Nutritional Intake and/or Meal Attendance Noncompliance with Medications
Sessions will vary in length, based on the topic. CEUs will be awarded, based on the length of the session & attendance to the live broadcast.

Kathy Sindoni, RN, BSN, CLNC
Kathy A. Sindoni, RN, BSN, CLNC has been a registered nurse for 25 years and has been professionally engaged in the assisted living network since 2001. She is the owner and chief consultant of Substantial Compliance Consulting Group, which provides professional assisted living service consultation and serves residences in various regions throughout New York State. As a consultant, Kathy provides assistance with regulatory compliance, DOH surveillance, quality assurance, team building, and many other such services. She is also a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant providing assistance to operators and/or attorneys on the medical or operational aspects of their cases. Kathy previously served as the Administrator and Case Manager of Bridges Cornell Heights, in Ithaca, New York from 2005-2013. Bridges became the first licensed EALR in NYS in April 2008. Additionally, Kathy serves on ESAAL’s Assisted Living Services Committee which acts as an advisory panel to the organization's Board of Directors. She has also served on the Department of Health EALR workgroup.

Jayne Perry, RN
Jayne Perry, RN has been a registered nurse for 34 years and has served in a professional leadership and management role for several years. Jayne previously served as the Administrator in a 120-bed residence licensed as an Adult Home/Assisted Living Facility with an Assisted Living Program (ALP) and Enhanced Assisted Living Residence (EALR) program. Jayne was also responsible for oversight of the Licensed Home Care Service Agency (LHCSA) that served the ALP population. While in this role, Jayne worked closely with RFR Consulting Group and Substantial Compliance Consulting Group to provide staff education and guidance regarding the NYSDOH rules and regulations for the Adult Home/Assisted Living Facility. This included the creation of policies, forms, and systems specific to the various resident populations within the residence. Additionally, Jayne has experience in completing UAS-NY assessments and is NYS certified to perform PRI/Screen Assessments in the community and for Assisted Living residents.
