Program Description

With the advent of COVID-19, there has been a great deal of information and guidance issued from a variety of sources. And the guidance seems to be ever-changing. It has been, at best, extremely difficult to keep up with the flurry and influx of information while continuing to maintain daily operations in the face of this crisis.

One of the few things we know for certain is that COVID-19 has had an incredible impact on the entire Long-term Care continuum. How it has affected Adult Care Facilities and Assisted Living Residences has been variable from building-to-building and dependent on a variety of factors.

In this session the presenter will share her own professional experience while assisting an ACF/ALR with their rapid response to two confirmed COVID-19 cases.

She will address the following topics:
• Proactive measure prior to identification of positive cases
• Immediate actions taken post identification
• Containment measures
• Staff training and support
• Plan for maintaining vigilance moving forward
• Unintended consequences of long-term isolation 
• Potential solutions to these challenges
