The Empire State Association of Assisted Living is pleased to announce that our 31st Annual Conference & Trade Show will be held from Sunday, May 2, through Wednesday, May 5, 2010 in the city of Saratoga Springs, NY, located in the scenic foothills of the Adirondacks. The Saratoga Hilton Hotel will be our host hotel, which is conveniently located on the main street of the city and provides a safe and pedestrian-friendly access to many shops and restaurants.

The Conference theme is “Racing for Success & Taking the Lead”, an appropriate fit for the city’s feature attraction, the Saratoga Race Course. Racing since 1863, Saratoga is North America’s oldest racetrack. Nicknamed “The Graveyard of Favorites”, Saratoga’s course is the most difficult place to win. Over the years, many legends such as Man of War and Secretariat were defeated there.

Now, ESAAL’s Conference & Education Committee has taken the challenge! We’re offering training to assist you in facing the challenges of your job and personal development. Here’s a list of some of the “hot topics” to be covered in our educational programs:

  • Developing an Effective Individualized Service Plan (ISP)
  • Grant Writing
  • Preparing for DOH Survey and Writing an Effective Plan of Correction
  • DOH Presentation on Food Service Guidelines
  • Leadership Training
  • Identifying Elder Abuse – NYS Office of Adult Protective Services
  • Updates from NYSDOH Senior Staff
  • Role of the Nurse in Assisted Living
  • Dementia care – Optimizing Performance
  • Preventing Falls
  • From Marketing to Closing Sales
  • Risk Management
  • Dealing with Communicable Diseases in the ACF Setting
  • AND MORE!

Evening events will provide fun and relaxing activities:

  • Sunday Evening: Welcome Reception & “Dinner on Your Own”. Information on many restaurants within walking distance of the hotel will be available for you to select your dining pleasure!
  • Monday Evening: Trade Show & Station Dinner, “Day at the Track.” In addition to visiting our exhibitors, you will have opportunities to win prizes at ESAAL’s Video Racing Game!
  • Tuesday Evening: Annual Reception & Banquet, “Enjoy a Relaxing Evening with Your Colleagues.” We return to a setting of great dancing music, performed by the New York Players! Click here to hear the sound of this well-known local band.

Don’t forget these other benefits:

  • Earn continuing education credits to fulfill ACF requirements
  • Keynote speakers providing light-hearted but motivating effects each day
  • Opportunity to network with your peers
  • Conference Binder full of information from all of the educational sessions – yes even the concurrent sessions you don’t attend.
